VALE ROYAL VISIT 5TH APRIL 2008
On Saturday the 5 th of April, a group of about 66 athletes from Glenmore AC and Vale Royal AC Cheshire, took part in a morning of Water sports at Carlingford Adventure Centre. This was followed by a sumptuous lunch in Mullaghbouy Community Hall- provided by the parents of Glenmore's athletes, and presentations of a signed photograph of the successful British athlete Dame Kelly Holmes to Glenmore AC, and a plaque of the death of Cuchulainn to Vale Royal. To conclude the day over 100 athletes and parents walked and ran over the mountain to Carlingford. Both clubs enjoyed the second year of this event and would like to thank all those involved in making the day such a memorable experience. This trip was made possible for vale royal by funding from their council – Vale Royal Borough Council in Cheshire . The group were brought across by mentors with the club and coaches Shaun Mc Grath (from Dowdallshill- who left there in 1961 with his family and settled in Crewe in England ) and Andy Carter who was a finalist in the Munich Olympics in 1972.
